University summer programs are introductory college level courses and are usually held in person. There are online programs available for some universities.

Applying for summer programs can be a great way to:

1. Explore university courses and decide whether you want pursue a subject at a higher level.

2. Earn college credit if you would like to graduate early

3. Demonstrate interest in a university

These are some of the key advantages associated with doing summer schools hosted by universities.

The benefits to doing these courses are:

1. Show colleges that you are passionate about your chosen field of study

2. Demonstrate that you are capable of learning beyond what is taught in school and can handle the rigor of university classes

3. Show universities that you know what you want to pursue in that specific university.

Applying to summer programs especially those from ivy league universities can be extremely competitive.

Some of the key requirements are:

1. Good grades (mostly As, Bs and Cs under special circumstances)

2. Strong extracurriculars as universities often ask you to upload a CV
